Android app updates

We have added several new features to our Android app, the licence plate scanner with Carfax integration has finally been released and is quite cool folks!

We have added a lot of useful features in Work Order management. You can now add photos to a work order directly from the app and view and manage on web app. The tick icon will bring up the signature screen for the customer to sign, and the new camera icon allows you to take pictures and upload for use in the web app.

Work orders can now also be digitally signed by customers, they can sign on-screen, and the signature will be placed on the work order PDF, to either digitally store, or to print for record keeping.  Aside from convenience, this can also help your company to reduce their carbon footprint and save on printing, paper and storage costs.

We have  a redesign in the works to modernize the look of our app and we are considering a port for iOS later this year.

NEW: Updates to Invoice & RO Editor

We have started on our upgrades in response to the feedback from our recent user survey, the participants of which we wish to thank again for time to let us know what is right, and what is wrong!

We will be rolling out a stream of minor upgrades over the coming weeks to improve user experience and address some highlighted bugs that have crept into the last release, and also preparing for a major upgrade scheduled for this summer.

In the meantime, we have made some revisions to the current invoice editor, and quote editor, which now shows the Parts/Labor totals at the end of the editor without tax, then the tax line and then final amount, we all admit here that it does look a hell of a lot damn clearer! Seeing this from our customer’s perspective certainly helped out here.  The new format editor better separates out tax, labor, parts and total while making out the invoice, the printed invoice remains unchanged with this update.

On the R.O. side, we have added the much requested Repair Order document to include a customer sign-off line, this is now present on all Repair Orders, but we plan to make this optional in Settings soon for those who may not wish to display, for the moment it is now standard on all R.O., you do not have to use it, but there will be an option to remove it for those who do not with to display signature line.

In our upcoming update to our Android app, we plan on adding ability for customer to sign-off on a repair order using finger signature on screen of device, our mobile app is currently held up due to an issue with our licence plate scanner we are also adding to upcoming update.

Many more changes are on the way, including the most requested to have multiple labor lines, this is a major upgrade to the underlying systems and will take careful planning and testing before release, but we have begun work on this and aiming for release of this much requested ability sometime this summer.

We have been quietly working on some major upgrades in the shadows, and are now almost ready to release the fruits of our efforts!

Labor Rates

Firstly, many of you had asked about labor rates and time costing in the past. We are happy to announce that this has been addressed now. You can enter your invoice time as either time or cash value for your labor, similarly when creating Repair Orders, you can enter labor in hours and automatically calculate labor cost.

For labor cost calculations to function you must enter your labor rate in Settings, you can also conveniently look up the local labor rate in your area by ZIP code.

QUIK Service

Creating a QUIK Service is a breeze. Basically, you go about creating an RO or Invoice as per normal.  Given that the vehicle VIN is supplied, then you see a list of service items, and can refine by mileage and time since last service.  This is a massively time saving function, please see the video above for a demonstration of QUIK Service in our auto repair software.

Pick the service items you wish to add to RO or Invoice, and viola, a fully created, costed and calculated document is produced in seconds!

You can create an invoice using the QUIK service in  a very similar fashion as to creating an RO using QUIK Service.

These new updates are expected to be released later this week, so as ever, stay tuned and watch this space.

Improved Repair Orders, full timelogs

We have revamped our Repair Order time tracking and management feature of our auto repair shop software, and given it a complete overhaul.  It is now more detailed and more flexible, you can now resume a job a clock-in again after previously clocking out; up until now once clocked-out, a repair order was deemed closed.  This has changed now and you can easily clock-in again to resume work, e.g. after a lunch break, or resuming the next day.

Full time logs are now available for all RO’s, showing timestamps of each clock-in/out.  This gives you great flexibility to monitor employee/business performance on jobs, such as estimate vs actual time taken on a job, and allowing for you to bill more accurately if a job takes shorter or longer than estimated.  Time logs also add accountability as to who was working on what and when, always useful in dispute resolution!

The client dashboard has always given a good overview a client’s account, from vehicle details and customer information to bookings, invoices and transactions on the account.

We have now made it easier to see at a glance the most recent repair orders for a vehicle, and also conveniently edit, view or clock in and out for an RO, all from the  client dashboard.

On a side topic, another frequently requested feature for our auto repair shop software has been to calculate labor rates; we are looking into this and hope to have a solution in the coming weeks, it will implemented for US customers and will use data from Edmunds Developer Network to apply their suggested labor rate for your ZIP code. More details on this to follow, so stay tuned folks!

New features: Client account statements now available

Firstly, thanks to the folks who contributed bug reports and feature suggestions for our auto repair invoicing software over the months, we take all comments into consideration and always have more on the way!

Numerous bugs in navigation have been resolved, searching for clients by name has been fine tuned, as well as some issues on the Bookings management.  We have revamped our Repair Order screen, many felt this was cluttered, it is now much clearer and improved upon, as well bringing as-you-type part prediction, which we also will be implementing soon for labor items on repair orders.

By far the largest request in recent times has been for client statements, to print of an overview of a client’s account, with all transactions on their account, i.e. invoices sent, cash, checks, paypal payments received, and any adjustments to payments on the account. For auto repair shops that have large clients with much repeat work will find this useful, as will your clients that may require such for expenses and accounting purposes.  Our client statement feature is in it’s infancy, and there will be upcoming refinements in coming weeks, including PDF, and down the line a custom statement generator, which can be spread over date range and also combine multiple vehicles that belong to one client, as ever, Stay Tuned!

Improved repair orders, improved user interface

More updates again this week, this time we have revamped our Repair Order creator, we have completely revamped the user interface to make it clearer and easier to use, and now features part prediction as you type, similar to the feature currently available in the invoice creator.  We have also made visual improvements to the RO’s that are created, with bar codes to scan to clock in and clock out of a job.  We will soon be adding option to mobile app to check in and out.
